- AERS' Preventing and
Managing Operating
Room Fires
The content in this course is consistent with Medical
Practice advisories issued by the American Society of
Anesthesiologists and the American College of Surgeons, as
well as NFPA Standards. However, it
contains additional information that goes beyond what is found in the
practice advisories. This course is appropriate for
Physicians, Administrators, Nurses, OR Techs, Physician's
Assistants, or any other personnel who work within the
surgical environment or who exercise administrative or
budgetary control over surgical environments.
After completing the course, attendees will not only know
the proper procedures to prevent and handle Operating Room
Fires but they will understand how and why these steps
accomplish the goal of a fire-free surgical environment.
This deeper understanding will help your staff react more
appropriately and with greater efficiency, even when
extraordinary situations occur. Your staff and
patients will be safer.
In addition to all of the material found in Medical Practice
Advisories, our course content includes additional material in the
following relevant areas:
- High Reliability Organizations
- Gas Buoyancy
- Chemistry of Fire
- Effects of material configuration on
combustibility
- Selecting proper extinguishing agents
- Using a Fire Extinguisher
- Case Studies
- Q&A
